About this webinar

Bear Liu
Product Designer, Xero

Speaker's Bio:

Hi there, I’m Bear, a Product Designer at Xero, a Design Mentor at Springboard and CareerFoundry, and an Apple Award-Winning Podcast Host at BearTalk.

I’m a self-taught designer with a science educational background who has helped large enterprises, startups, and clients across China, the US, and New Zealand with digital products – for over 16 years. Between my work hours and family time, I read, draw, do podcasts and make videos around tech, design and productivity.

Talk Description:

I think visual is a designer's superpower to help people understand things and deliver messages, so I started exploring visual thinking/sketchnotes last year. I experimented with sketchnotes to record conferences, panels and talks, which I got a much deeper understanding of the same topics and engaged many people for discussion as well. I also adapted visual thinking to my product design process and saw a noticeable improvement in communication. I even completed a book illustration project because of utilising visual thinking power!

In this talk, I'd like to share a few examples and practical tips (which don't require any drawing experience) on what I learned about visual thinking. I think it would be valuable for the conference audiences as communication is one of the fundamentals for designers and businesses. And it'll be fun too 🙂
